Now, what do all these numbers mean? The heck if I know!
Generally, as my mileage increased over the years, my times decreased. Which is to be expected. Obviously I had a very good Fall 2008 /Spring 2009 since both of my PR's were set then. But, 2007 was also a good year with a near PR at New Bedford and a 3:05 on a challenging Clarence course. A course that also got the best of me in 2010 when a stomach issue starting in mile 21 knocked me off a 2:58 paced race. Boston 2012 was... well... a nightmare. Inside a furnace!
Injuries in late 2009 and early 2011 kept the mileage totals for those years down and I think the times reflected that. But, with a healthy 2012 in my back pocket (along with my highest ever mileage total) I think I have the base to do something pretty special in 2013. And, with a little bit of luck, Hopefully I'll be able to make a dent into BOTH of my long-distance PR's this year!
